A Saudi Arabian-developed action-adventure game that follows an explorer's archaeological escapades around the Middle East.

Overview

Unearthed: Trail of Ibn Battuta is a third-person action-adventure game developed by Saudi Arabian developer Semaphore. The game was released on both PC and Mac, PSN, all major iOS, and Android devices. The game is episodic with each episode releasing at the same time on each device.

The game has drawn many comparisons to the Uncharted series for its gameplay and subject matter, as well as the three protagonists' resemblance to the lead characters in Uncharted.

Story

A young explorer, Faris Jawad must travel through much of the Middle East and North Africa, including Dubai, Egypt, Morocco, Syria, and Saudi Arabia to uncover one of its greatest mysteries left behind by famous Moroccan explorer Ibn Battuta.

Gameplay

The game features a cover mechanic and over-the-shoulder shooting as well as a multiplayer component. The game is also tied to a Facebook game, Unearthed Online.

Trivia

The game is based on the 13th century traveller Ibn Battuta, who is regarded as one of the greatest travellers of all time. He travelled across much of the Old World, from his home in Northern Africa, to Eastern & Western Africa, the Middle East, Southern & Eastern Europe, Central Asia, the Indian subcontinent, Southeastern Asia, and China.
