Metroid Prime: Federation Force

Overview

Metroid Prime: Federation Force is a sci-fi first-person shooter developed by Next Level and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo 3DS on August 19, 2016.

Set in the Metroid universe (and similar to Metroid Prime: Hunters), Federation Force is a spin-off (set after the events of the Metroid Prime trilogy) that does not star series protagonist Samus Aran and is instead focused on the Marines of the Galactic Federation. Up to four players can form a co-operative platoon of elite Marines (now donned in customizable power-suits called "Mechs") and set out on planetary missions to investigate a possible resurgence of Space Pirates.

Along with co-operative multiplayer, the game features a competitive multiplayer mode known as Blast Ball. Similar to Rocket League, Blast Ball has teams of three Mechs using their blasters and power-ups to send a large ball towards the opponent's goal in a simple arena. This mode was made available to everyone as a special downloadable demo on July 21, 2016.

Scanning the Samus or Zero Suit Samus amiibo will provide upgrades during the story mode. Scanning other amiibo, like Mario or Bowser, provides a cosmetic skin based on the scanned character during Blast Ball.
