Mafia III

The third game in the open world crime series. Mafia III follows Vietnam veteran, mixed-race Lincoln Clay in 1960s New Bordeaux, when racism is blooming, as he aspires for revenge against those who have harmed his family.

Overview

Mafia III is the third installment in the Mafia franchise. Developed by newly formed Hangar 13 and published by 2K Games, the game will release on October 7th, 2016.

Set in 1968 in the fictional city of New Bordeaux, Louisiana, the story follows Lincoln Clay, a Vietnam veteran who comes home to find a family in the Black Mob. After being betrayed by the Italian Mafia, Clay seeks revenge against everyone who has wronged him and his family.

Story

The game's story begins with a modern day documentary created by and starring retired FBI agent Jonathan Maguire detailing the past crimes and offences of Lincoln Clay and the rise of his mafia family to topple the Marcano's.

The framing narrative principally takes place in 1968. Lincoln Clay returns to his hometown of New Bordeaux after being discharged from Vietnam. He is greeted by Ellis Robinson, and the two head over to meet Sammy Robinson at his bar. After a night of celebration, it is revealed to Lincoln that Sammy is in trouble with the Haitian mob leader Baka. Despite Lincoln's plans to move to California, he decides to stay and hatches a plan to kill Baka after an attack on a restaurant Lincoln was volunteering at with his mentor Father James.

Sometime after Baka's death, Lincoln is invited to meet with Sal Marcano and his son Giorgi at the country club outside of town. At the meet, Lincoln is briefly introduced to Vito Scaletta - who Sal privately disregards as a "carpetbagger". Sal offers Lincoln to be the head of the Black Mob in New Bordeaux, but Lincoln politely declines the offer in honor of his adoptive father. In spite of Sal's disappointment, they still prepare a heist on the Federal Reserve which will ensure Sammy's debts with the mafia are paid up and some extra money is earned.

During Mardi Gras, Lincoln and Giorgi hijack a truck in the Bayou and assume disguises of Federal Reserve guards. They drive to the Federal Reserve in downtown New Bordeaux and are accepted with forged IDs. Using the combination from Scaletta, Giorgi cracks open the vault and the pair begin packing up money and plates until an alarm is set off. Lincoln defends Giorgi as he packs more of the money. Beneath the vault is a canal tunnel which Ellis and Thomas Burke's son Danny have a getaway boat stashed, they blow open a hole in the floor of the vault and the men escape from police boats through the canals until their boat crashes after a jump. Danny is injured after the crash. The group head up to the surface where they find themselves in the middle of Mardi Gras celebrations in the French Ward. Lincoln creates a distraction by bringing police attention to himself, whereas Giorgi, Ellis and Danny can find a getaway.

Faster Baby!

Lincoln heads to the sundown town of Sinclair Parish outside of New Bordeaux to investigate the murder of black people at the hands of the town's police force. He is accompanied by Roxy Laveau and meets up with a fellow Vietnam veteran and pothead Mitch Decosta. It is revealed that Sinclair Parish's sheriff Walter Beaumont has secret ties to the Southern Union.
