Virtua Fighter 5 R

Virtua Fighter 5: Revolution polishes the VF5 formula with two new characters and various new fighting stages. Along with new moves for every character VF5:R adds a new game mechanic, where every character now possesses launchers with potential high-damage outcome.

Virtua Fighter 5 R is an update to Virtua Fighter 5, adding two characters, one new in Jean Kujo and one old in Taka-Arashi, who returns from Virtua Fighter 3. The game's mechanics and characters have been tweaked and rebalanced to further refine the game for competitive play. Additionally, there are cosmetic additions to the game: new character costumes and stages.

The game was released in July 24, 2008 in Japan, and exclusively for the arcades. SEGA have neither confirmed nor denied their intent to bring VF5: R to home consoles or to territories outside of Japan.

Since the release of VF5: R, SEGA and AM2 have announced another update to the series. It is called Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown.
