Guilty Gear XX Slash

The Japan-exclusive second revision of Guilty Gear X2 adds two new characters (A.B.A and Order-Sol) while including new balance changes.

Overview

Guilty Gear XX Slash (also known as "Guilty Gear XX Slash: The Midnight Carnival") is a 2D sci-fi fantasy fighting game developed by Arc System Works and released by Sega for arcades (using Dreamcast-based Sega NAOMI hardware) in Japan on September 28, 2005.

The second revision of the Guilty Gear series' third main installment (after Guilty Gear XX #Reload), XX Slash adds two new characters (artificial lifeform A.B.A. and a past version of protagonist Sol Badguy, known as "Order-Sol"), character balance changes, updated stage appearances, and another change of the Burst Gauge visuals. Like XX #Reload, there are no major gameplay changes. It was later succeeded by Guilty Gear XX Accent Core.

A console version was later published by Sega for the PlayStation 2 exclusively in Japan on April 13, 2006. It was later ported to the PlayStation Portable as part of the Japanese version of Guilty Gear Judgment.

Characters

All playable characters from the Guilty Gear XX #Reload return, along with two additional characters (A.B.A and Order-Sol). This totals to 23 characters in the arcade version and 25 in the PS2 version (as Kliff and Justice are unlockables).

New Additions

  • A.B.A - An artificial lifeform from Frasco, who lived in total isolation for 10 years before escaping using an ancient war relic shaped like a large key (the "Flament Nagel", who she renamed to "Paracelsus").
  • Order-Sol - An alternate "past" version of Sol Badguy prior to him taking the Fireseal and leaving the Sacred Order of Holy Knights. Along with an alternate outfit, he uses a basic sword slab as a weapon and has different abilities. He also serves as a hidden boss.
