Conflict

Hex-based tactical wargaming from Vic Tokai. Two opposing forces, Western Bloc and Eastern Bloc, struggle for dominance across a series of sixteen maps.

Overview

Conflict is a turn-based strategy game exclusive to the Nintendo Famicom that was developed and published by Vic Tokai. It shares some similarities with the Parker Brothers board game of the same name, especially in terms of how certain units have advantages and disadvantages that the player must learn to exploit. The game would be followed up by Super Conflict, released on the SNES in 1993.

In either the single-player or two-player competitive matches, the goal is to demolish the opposing enemy's forces and take all their cities. Each player begins with a certain amount of "fame" which can speed up the creation of new units. Fame will decrease for a player as their units are destroyed and cities are conquered.
