The seventh main entry in the Soul series, Soulcalibur VI retells the events of the series' second entry (Soulcalibur). New game mechanics include "Reversal Edge" (a cinematic rock-paper-scissors clash) and unique character-specific traits.
Like most of the previous games in the series, Soulcalibur VI includes non-canonical guest fighters. For this entry, the main guest is Geralt of Rivia from the Witcher series, with two DLC guests added later (2B from NieR: Automata and Haohmaru from the Samurai Shodown series).
Libra of Soul
The player-created protagonist (referred to as The Conduit) barely survives an encounter with the forces of darkness somewhere in India. The Conduit then travels throughout the world to try and close the many fissures that have been opened between a hellish realm and their own, and stop their own soul from being consumed by evil in the process. The Conduit's story will run parallel to that of the main characters of the Soul Calibur mythos.
The Conduit can equip a multitude of different weapons before battle, allowing the player to use whichever character's style they prefer, or experiment with new ones. They can also choose to "equip" food or items to provide extra health or other buffs before engaging in battle.
After unlocking the ability to explore the world map, The Conduit may encounter random enemies, and have to fight through them on the way to their destination.
In addition to the main story of Kilik's possession of the Kali-Yuga, every main character will have their own history within the larger Soul Calibur mythos on display, expanding on their respective histories and their reasons for getting involved with the Soul Edge.
