Overview

Dome is a sci-fi adventure game based off the book "Dome: Prelude to the End" written by Shizuko Natsuki. The original book follows a group of scientists trying to build a large dome that is meant to protect people in an ensuing atomic war. However, the game instead stars the employees of an advertisement agency whose job it is to raise money for the construction of the dome by convincing the populace to donate money towards the project.

The title was developed by System Sacom in June 1988 for various Japanese computers and was the first installment in the company's Novel Ware franchise. While the game is a traditional command-based Japanese adventure game, Dome does not contain any puzzles and instead plays out like a traditional novel with the player able to obtain different endings based on the decisions they make in the story. Dome, and the Novel Ware series in general, is considered the pioneer of novel style video games in Japan and served as an inspiration for both sound novels and eventually visual novels.
