Overview
Mobile Suit Gundam Extreme Vs. Maxi Boost ON is the second Gundam VS game to be made available on PS4 since Gundam Versus. Bandai Namco confirmed that the console version will be made available in both the US and Japan. This game is an upgraded version of the 2014 title Mobile Suit Gundam Extreme VS. Full Boost that appeared in arcades and the PS3, but only in Japan. The "ON" in the title represents the newly added online functionality which allows players to play together or against each other.
Gameplay
In standard 2v2 battles, each side picks their Mobile Suit of choice and has 6000 Points to split for their entire team. Each time a unit is killed, the cost of their respawn is deducted from their team's Points. If the cost of a respawn would exceed the number of Points left, the team loses.
Most Mobile Suits have basic melee and long-range weapon attacks that use equipment as they were portrayed in their respective anime, and at least three different ways to dash around the field, either to dodge attacks or close the distance on an opponent.
The EX Burst System has been upgraded from previous games to offer a choice of three styles: In addition to Shooting and Fighting modes (for stronger long-range or melee attacks, respectively), there is a third option called Extend, which provides extra defensive power.

The game boasts of a roster of over 180 Mobile Suits spanning the entire Gundam franchise, from the original RX-78-2 Gundam to the most recent (as of 2017) Gundam Barbatos found in Iron-Blooded Orphans.
