Fire Tonight

A puzzle game about two people trying to reunite in a burning city.

Overview

Fire Tonight is a puzzle game developed by Reptoid Games, and was inspired by the song "Fire Tonight" by Information Society. It released for PC and Switch on August 12, 2021.

Story

The game follows the story of Maya and Devin, a couple who begin the game talking with each other over the phone, when their connection is suddenly cut off. When Maya leaves her apartment, she notices flames have begun to engulf the city. Worried about Devin's safety, she takes off in order to find a way to meet up with him.

Gameplay

Fire Tonight is broken up into eight levels, which alternate between Maya's and Devin's perspective.

Maya's levels consist of puzzle based game, that include navigating the environment through methods such as pushing blocks, an finding items. Maya also gains an ability to navigate through some of the flames engulfing the city by listening to her tape player. This ability is powered by batteries, which are found around the levels to recharge the ability.

Devin's levels are adventure game-style narrative sections that take place in his apartment. Items in his apartment are viewed to progress through these sections and provide a source of Devin's thoughts.
