Anarchy is a traditional Yume Nikki fangame with darker, more visceral imagery, along with a dark and heavy soundtrack. The protagonist, Anarchy, is unable or unwilling to leave his room. The game contains no effects. Many of the deeper-hidden maps in this game are labyrinths with a number of dead ends.
Similar to older platformers, players in The Fourth Wall are able to wrap from one side of the screen to the other. The core mechanic that the game is built around allows players to turn this screen wrap ability on and off, allowing the camera to follow the player until they come across a puzzle that requires a lock of the screen.
