In this game, you follow the destiny of a rebel group, who had to flee from the evil despot Pepper. Led by the cat-man Darland and the fugitive Phir, the rebels must overcome all possible obstacles in order to put an end to the evil reign and to restore peace in the land. Although the game has a different story, it still looks and plays more or less the same way as the first three Farland Story games. Lord Monarch is a 1991 strategy game for the NEC PC-98 by Falcom and the seventh main title in their Dragon Slayer series. Sega Falcom remade it for the Sega Mega Drive in 1994, this time called Lord Monarch: Tokoton Sentou Densetsu. This version was not released outside Japan. The object is to destroy all the camps and peasants of all the player's rival kingdoms under a strict time limit. Alliances can be formed near the beginning of the game to help the player. However, the alliance is only effective until the enemy alliance is defeated. Then the former allies declare war on each other. Victory through a cunning alliance is impossible because game rules dictate that there can only be one winner at the end of the game; that is why the two former allies need to go to war in order to claim the victory. Peasants have to do engineering tasks as well as military tasks. For example, bridges, monster-filled caves, and fences can be created or destroyed for the purposes of strategy. Peasants may also merge their units to

Dark Legions is an action based strategy game. The player may play against the computer or another human on a strategic game board. In the beginning of the game, the player buys their forces with a predefined number of credits, and may purchase any of the 16 characters along with various kinds of traps and even rings of power to upgrade their creatures. One is chosen to be the "Orb Keeper". The Orb Keeper is like the King in chess: the game is over if he dies. Then players set up on a chosen map and start to move turn wise. When one player moves a piece into the same square as an opponent, the action is instantly transferred to another board map that represents the terrain upon which the two pieces occupy. Each player starts with their single piece on this "melee map" and must fight using their figures. The fight is simultaneously controlled in real time. Each figure type has unique abilities and at least two attack types. They can be roughly translated into categories however. This categories facing off against e

Video sequences were reduced to slide shows (with full sound) in some versions. The game was bundled with the RealMagic MPEG playback card as a demonstration of the card's abilities to play back full-motion MPEG video via the card's hardware decoder, at the time software MPEG decoding was not viable due to the lack of processing power in contemporary processors. The music was composed by Burke Trieschmann and won Computer Gaming World's Premiere Award for Best Musical Score in 1994.
