Sudden Strike is a real-time tactics (RTT) computer game set in World War II and the first game in the Sudden Strike series. The game was developed by Fireglow based in Russia and published by CDV software of Germany. The player selects a faction (e.g. Soviets, Germans, or Allied forces) and gains control of many varied units such as infantry, tanks and artillery. The games focus primarily on tactics, eschewing traditional real-time strategy resource gathering and base development. GAMEPLAY: The main story features three campaigns (Soviets, Germans, and Allied forces). The battles are presented in an isometric perspective with line-of-sight occlusions and practical cover. Sudden Strike helped pioneer the real-time tactics genre, building upon concepts established by Counter Action for DOS, which was published by Mindscape in 1996. Sudden Strike utilizes accurate in-game physics with houses and buildings obstructing units' view, line-of-sight and firing range whereas clumps of trees can provide cover to reduce the

Battlefield was an online multiplayer game where the player controlled a tank belonging to one of the four teams, moving around the map and firing at enemies. The game was partially turn-based: while the player gave their tanks commands in real-time, the tanks made their moves in turns. Tanks could also teleport to any spot on the map, lay down mines as traps for enemy tanks, and use a radar to detect hidden enemy mines and pickups. Fuel played the role of the tank's health, and it was consumed by moving, teleporting, shooting, using a radar, laying mines, or getting shot by enemies. Upon running out of fuel the tank was deactivated and the player had to wait to respawn. It could be replenished by collecting fuel canisters. Equipment could also be acquired; this included better weapons, protective shields, and a long-range radar. Other map features included obstacles which could be moved around by the tank, and ferries used for transport over water. The game was originally available on the game website Bonus.com,

Special Operations is a top-down, turn based, tactical squad game where the player has to achieve a particular objective at an enemy compound. At the start of the game, the player selects the mission, with options as simple as photographing the compound to as difficult as blowing part of it up. Once the objective is selected, the player needs to select the squad members based upon their skills. Each potential squad member will have a primary skill and a secondary skill which is only revealed by interviewing the potential recruit. Certain skills are essential in order to complete your objective, for example a photographer and explosives expert for the example above and some are more generally useful, such as a diver which will let you explore any lakes that are encountered. Once the game begins you need to explore the forest in order to locate the compound or other elements that may help you complete the objective.
