Arkanoid is the official Coco version of the arcade hit of the same name. It is a Bustout type game, except much more advanced. Steve Bjork brought out a Bustout style game from his own company called Bash a little bit earlier, that introduced the bricks that have to be hit more than once, indestructable bricks, and brick that drop special energizers (like fat paddle, slow ball speed, magnetic paddle, etc.), but he didn't take it as far as the official Arkanoid, until this version sold on cartridge through Radio Shack came out. Then, he added the aliens coming onto the playing board from the top, and the laser powerup where you can shoot the blocks.

    1983

    TRS-80 Color Computer
The player takes command of a ship (presumably a graviton) on an x axis plane to collect and shoot electrons at a spinning atom to obtain a new atom. For example, if the player has one electron circling, he or she would shoot another electron in place to make a hydrogen element. If the electron misses the target and hits the nucleus, the atom becomes unstable and blows apart, sending electrons flying around the game screen, and the ship needs to find safety behind barriers located in three of the four corners of the arena.

    3-D Brickaway

    1982

    Point-and-click Puzzle Arcade
    TRS-80 Color Computer
This is a racquetball-like game that is best described as a 3D variation of Breakout. You are at the end on a rectangular room. On the other end is a wall made of bricks or blocks. The ball travels down to the wall and knocks out a brick. It then returns to your end where you must use a squarish paddle to send the ball back to the wall. If the ball gets past the paddle, you lose a ball. In the computer version, you must knock out all the bricks of the wall to advance. Each level has more bricks per wall. You begin with 5 balls. In the console version, you must knock out 57 of the 72 bricks to advance. Each level has 72 bricks but the number of balls will lower in later levels. Level 1 starts with 99 balls.

    TRS-80 Color Computer
In Fire Copter, the player controls a helicopter armed with both lasers and water cannons. 1-player and 2-player games are available, with players taking alternative helicopter control. The player scrolls over a 3-dimensional wireframe city, looking for active fires. The player needs to position the copter over the center of the fire to spray water cannons to put out the fire. In addition, fire starting androids are present throughout the city, which need to be shot with the copter's laser cannons. The player receives points for fires put out and androids destroyed. As fire spreads, the city is in critical danger, and the player loses a life when too much of the city is engulfed in flame. The player has a total of 3 lives, and when all are lost it's game over. The fire has been quelled at the start of each life, and the city begins to burn anew.
