In May of 2015, Something Awful user Vilkacis would do a let's play thread of Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade, albeit with a twist. Vilkacis had some degree of experience with hacking Fire Emblem games and would make changes to the game such as making Noah a dark mage with the portrait of a Phantasy Star character, giving Ogier a speed growth that's over 100%, and making Zephiel one of the most overtuned boss fights in the series. This is a FE8 hack that features a variety of new features, most notably skills, some third tiers, new classes, and of course new maps, mugs, characters, events, and music (though because of CT some older versions of characters still use mugs like the ones they used back then for continuity reasons). Genealogy of the Holy War and Thracia 776 gave heavy inspiration for this creation, as a skill system is present, along with FE5 style magic and tradable stat-boosting rings.
