The game features 15 species of dinosaur (9 huntable), 6 weapons, 5 maps, and 6 equipment options to suit various styles of play. In a departure from the first game's ranking system, Carnivores 2 awards points for successful hunts based on equipment and species, with which the player may purchase higher-valued weapons and species for subsequent hunts. The game also features a trophy room, where the players most recent kills are displayed with recorded stats, and an observer mode, where players can explore each map and learn how each dinosaur behaves without fear.
