When a player gets hit enough times to lose all their hit points, they are defeated.
The game features a Story Mode, which pits the player against a series of nine opponents that get progressively harder, and a versus mode, which is a single match against either an AI opponent or a human opponent(or, two AI opponents). Dungeon Fighter Online is a free-to-play multiplayer hack-and-slash RPG with a side-scrolling arcade style. Items carried by players can be combined with additional items. Objects return to their original position whenever they are dropped. Interactive cut scenes are triggered once a player has completed location objectives.
To complete the game, the player explores real life locations such as Paris, New Orleans or Havana. Some game stages have a time limit that, if not completed is punishable by the character’s death.
