The SG-1000 port of N-Sub.
The object of the game is to maneuver an on-screen submarine, the "N-Sub," with the joystick and sink the enemy fleet with torpedo fire in the Cobalt Blue Sea. Torpedoes can be fired vertically or horizontally by means of two separate 'FIRE' buttons and 3 torpedoes can be fired in rapid succession by keeping the button depressed. The enemy ships attack the N-Sub with missiles, torpedoes and depth charges. One round is over after the attack by the enemy fleet of twelve ships (No. 1 Fleet Black, No. 2 Fleet Blue) and the loop attack by the enemy destroyer. Enemy attack gains in ferocity with each new round. Bonus points are awarded if the fleet of twelve ships and the destroyer are destroyed. One extra N-Sub is added if players attain high score. The game is over when all of a player's N-Subs are sunk.
The SG-1000 port of Star Jacker. Star Jacker is an early vertical scrolling shooter with some interesting characteristics. The player starts out with three fighters with all of the fighters moving and shooting at the same time. Two fighters trail the lead fighter. Star Jacker features a similar scheme with the Namco game Xevious in that the fighters shoot at enemy fighters in the air while dropping bombs on enemies and targets on the ground level.
When any of the fighters is killed, the game momentarily pauses and re-centers the player fighters before continuing at the same point. The game is over when all of the player's fighters are destroyed. Star Jacker allows no continues.
A port of the arcade game of the same name, made by Sega for their SG-1000 console. Due to the system's limitations, the scrolling is more choppy and the game has less detailed graphics.
Q*bert is an arcade game by Gottlieb. It was ported to the SG-1000 by Tsukuda Original, who marketed it for their Othello Multivision console. The objective of the game is to turn all the cubes on screen to a desired colour by moving Q*bert on top of them. Q*bert can only move in diagonals, and the player needs to be careful not to either send Q*bert off the edge or have him collide with enemies/obstacles. Occasionally cylindrical platforms appear on the edge of the screen, which when jumped on, will take Q*bert to the top. The SG-1000 port is a very bare-bones rendition of the game and is missing many elements seen in the arcade version. It is also much harder as the port sends out more enemies in the first few levels.
Hyper Sports is a sports game originally developed by Konami, which was ported and published for the SG-1000 by Sega in 1985. The game has the player compete through a number of Olympic events.
