Snow is originally a Japanese visual novel for Windows PCs with erotic content. It was later ported without the adult scenes to the Dreamcast, PlayStation 2, and PlayStation Portable consoles. The story of Snow revolves around the life of Kanata Izumo, who is revisiting a village to help his relative manage a hot spring inn. Far East of Eden II: Manjimaru

    2003

    Role-playing (RPG)
    Nintendo GameCube PlayStation 2
This is a remake of the original Tengai Makyou II game for PC Engine. You control Majinmaru, a young warrior who is chosen by the destiny to rid the ancient world of Jipang from the evil, and the allies he meets on his journey. The game is set in a unique alternative medieval Japan, a world which is mostly based on the European's image of Japan, with deliberately exaggerated characteristics and clichés. The graphics have been completely remade, although the 3D characters were made to look in the style of old 2D RPGs. There are also many anime-style videos who have a distinctly comic look. The battles are fought from first person perspective, and have a fairly standard system of physical attacks and magic.

This PS2 release is a remake of the original 1985 arcade classic of Space Harrier, namely one which replaces the scaled 2D sprites with 3D textured models. It tweaks some of the levels, remixes the music and adds a lock-on feature similar to Panzer Dragoon, but is otherwise mostly the same game. "Fractal" mode removes the checkerboard floors and replaces them with more realistic scenery.

    Border Down

    2003

    Shooter
    Arcade Dreamcast
A futuristic sci-fi shooter in which you play a test pilot strapped to the brand new RAIN combat simulator which allows you to remotely control fighters as they immerse themselves in the midst of enemy territory. The game is a side-scrolling shooter in which you control your ship and try to survive the onslaught of enemy attacks while you attempt to clear the levels. Weapon upgrades are based on collectible power-ups, but the game mostly relies on a power bar that fills as you destroy enemies and which allows you to unleash your super weapon at the expense of decreased normal firepower. The game also features a unique "border" system which involves three separate routes through each stage. You select the default route at the start of a level and when your ship is destroyed you get knocked down to the next "border", which features alternate backgrounds and enemy patterns. Only if you get knocked off the last border you lose the game. Uses completely polygonal graphics and features single player arcade, remix and p
  • NHL Hitz Pro

    Sport
    Xbox Nintendo GameCube PlayStation 2
    star 6.9
NHL Hitz Pro is an ice hockey video game developed by Next Level Games and published by Midway Games. It's the third and final game of the NHL Hitz series. It was released on September 25, 2003, for the PlayStation 2, Nintendo GameCube, and Xbox. Unlike the previous titles in the series, this game has 5-on-5 gameplay instead of the usual 3-on-3 gameplay with the earlier titles. Despite that fact, however, the game does not include penalty shots, and it is still an arcade-type hockey game like its predecessors. It also has, as the name suggests, a lot of hard hitting, appealing more often to casual hockey fans than hardcore ones. The cover athlete of the game is Nicklas Lidström, and features commentary from Tim Kitzrow[1] and Harry Teinowitz. Unlike many other hockey video games of the 21st century, NHL Hitz Pro had the IIHF license, enabling it to use the jerseys of the Olympic hockey teams. The game also has many game modes, one of the most popular being the "Pick-Up Hockey" game mode, where the game would tur

  • Return of Egypt

    2003

    Return of Egypt

    2003

    Platform Adventure
    PC (Microsoft Windows)
Return of Egypt is a very good Castlevania clone from Driven Phantom Soft, sporting fluid 2D sidescrolling action, plenty of well-drawn enemies, and excellent level design. You star Moses as he returns to Egypt to battle various undeads and even Egyptian gods. Similar to the hero in Castlevania, Moses wields a whip in this game as his default weapon. The castle is very well-designed, full of traps, optional routes, and secret rooms. Similar to most console platformers, you cannot save at any point in the game, but only at "save points" - which are conveniently placed every few rooms apart. One thing I like is the number of "special skills" and magic spells you will acquire as you play through the game, usually after beating each "boss" monster. Examples of these skills are rapid run and magical storm.
