  • Arcy 2

    1994

    Arcy 2

    1994

    DOS
Arcy 2 is a VGA puzzle game that might remind you a little of Kroz. You play a smiley face who must collect all of the keys in a level before you can leave. Each enemy moves in a specific way, so the puzzle is figuring out how to move through the level without getting killed. Some enemies will only move if you cross their path, some will kill you instantly, some move in straight lines and only turn left or right, and some will try to trap you. Rocks can be used to interpose something between yourself and your enemies, and sometimes must be used to destroy walls or barriers. The soundtrack gets old quickly (one stanza of "The Entertainer" plays in a loop forever), but the game is very challenging and should entertain anyone who is up to the challenge. There are 3 volumes in this game, with only the first volume playable in the shareware version.

"Oh no", cried Donald the Sheriff. "Pete's done it again!" "He's stolen our numbers-from 1 up through 10!" "Search the whole city-every street every house." "Look high and low-and call Mickey Mouse!" "You can count on me," declared Mickey Mouse. "Don't worry!" "I'll find all the numbers. I'll foil Pete's plot!" "I'm set for adventure. I'm hot on the trail." "With my friends to help guide me, there's no way I can fail!" Immensely entertaining, Mickey's Adventure in Numberland helps improve early number identification and counting skills as it invites children to join Mickey on his quest to locate and return Numberland's stolen numbers. The game features 5 imaginative worlds of fun and fantasy-each with two levels and a seemingly endless supply of animated surprises. Mickey's Adventures in Numberland is an educational game released for the NES in March of 1994.

    Racing
    Super Nintendo Entertainment System
    star 6.3
What do you get if you cross Sonic the Hedgehog with Tony Hawk's Pro Skater? It might seem an odd combination, but it describes Uniracers perfectly. One of the more successful releases of the Super Nintendo's twilight era, Uniracers mixes platform-based high-speed racing, with crazy stunts and tricks. The basic idea in most levels of the game is simple. Get your unicycle from A to B as quickly as possible, and finish ahead of your opponent. It's like Sonic, but with none of those pesky enemies, pointless power-ups and frustrating obstructions. In fact it doesn't sound like much of a game at all... Here's the key, though. Tricks performed and landed during the race increase your speed. The better the trick, the greater your increase in speed will be. Also, some levels are set in areas designed solely for stunts. Such levels require you to earn as many style points as possible, by doing tricks. These levels are against the clock, and a set points score, rather than an opponent. Unicycles are stupid and difficult
