It was designed by Daniel Gimmer (Tormentor667) in 2004, last updated in 2005, and uses an unnamed music track by Lexus Alyus. The par time defined in MAPINFO is 23:15. In 2020 it received a v2.0 update for GZDoom, and a sequel called The City of the Damned: Apocalypse was released in 2007.

    Demon Eclipse was a Doom II mod for GZDoom by Amuscaria (formerly Eriance). Originally intended to be told through the eyes of another marine escaping the invasion on Earth in during Doom II, Demon Eclipse went through multiple iterations but was ultimately dropped due to real-life and the loss of motivation for the project by the author. The project had succumbed to multiple rounds of scope-bloat and become too much to manage. The first episode of first dropped from the mod, but was later made standalone by Blue Shadow. The intent was to focus and refine the second episodes 'hell-tech' theme in the "Hell-Forged Edition", but that also fell thru in 2014. In 2017, Amuscaria had revive the project in a complete reboot of the second episode by the name of Hell-Forged, with a much narrower focus around the Gothic hell-tech theme.

    Jenesis is a 2011 megawad for Doom II by James Paddock. It was one of the winners of Doomworld's Cacowards for 2011. Jenesis' goal was to retain the classic feel of not just the original Doom and Final Doom games, but that of popular megawads like the Memento Mori duology, Hell Revealed, Alien Vendetta, Requiem and Scythe, and often to mesh these themes together to create nostalgic yet modern-looking maps.

    Requiem (REQUIEM.WAD) is a 1997 megawad that contains 32 new levels, uploaded to the idgames archive on July 4, 1997. Several of its designers previously worked on Memento Mori and Memento Mori II. It is famous for popularizing architectural tricks that are used even today, including the faked 3D bridges originally introduced by Dystopia 3. It is also one of the few PWADs that are allowed to be used in Compet-n speedruns.

    50 Shades of Graytall is a megawad of 18 levels built around the design constraint of using only three textures for walls (namely DOORTRAK, FIREBLU1, and GRAYTALL). Despite this limitation, the challenge was to create levels that were aesthetically pleasing and offered interesting gameplay. The project was led by Michael Fraize (Marcaek). Each map was allowed to use one flat of the author's choice as well as F_SKY1. In addition, further textures could be used on non-visible parts (such as the upper and lower textures of a one-sided line) so as to achieve special effects, such as switch sounds (a line only provides audible feedback when activated if it has a switch texture) and sky transfers.

    Memento Mori II (MM2.WAD) is a 1996 megawad that contains 32 new levels, plus two top-secret levels that are not contained in the WAD file itself (see Accessing the top-secret levels). Released on July 27, 1996, it is the sequel to the 1995 megawad Memento Mori, with many of the same designers involved, including Denis and Thomas Möller of the Innocent Crew. Like its predecessor, and in contrast to most megawads, it is designed especially for cooperative multiplayer gameplay, although it can be played in single-player as well.
