Horny Sweeper is a turn-based strategy game. The player begins the game with Kazuya and Henry alone, but afterwards more and more girls join the party. Most of the battles are against government parties, which consist of various character classes (soldiers, mages, robots, etc.). The player's party also acquires different talents over the course of the game: a healer, a shotgun-wielding character, etc. When characters attack each other, an animated sequence is displayed.

    Role-playing (RPG)
    PC-9800 Series
A scientist named Zen Shiratori was investigating the ruins of an ancient Mayan temple, convinced that the proof of the existence of a parallel world lies there. He found a strange glowing orb, which was later accidentally discover by his fourteen-year-old son Gen, who was rummaging through Dad's collection. As a result, Gen was indeed teleported into a parallel world. There, he meets a young girl named Rinna, who tells him that he is, in fact, "Gen-Kaiser", the much-expected savior of their world. Piloting giant combat robots, the two must protect the innocents of that world and defeat evil. Kisō Shinden: Gen-Kaiser is a turn-based strategy/RPG hybrid (what is commonly called in Japan a "tactical RPG"). There is overworld navigation, and the player can also visit and explore cities; however, these features are rather rudimentary, and hostile areas cannot be explored in real time and are presented as large-scale strategic battles. The characters move in turns over the top-down battlefield and attack when enemies

  • Gensei Kaito Den

    Gensei Kaito Den

    1995

    Role-playing (RPG)
    PC-9800 Series
Gensei Kaitō Den is set in the same world as Gensei Kitan. Important characters from Gensei Kitan (including its protagonist, the dog Smash) appear in the game, and some of them are playable. However, the main hero is a young and very ambitious thief named Ali-Baba - who is, naturally, the leader of a band of 40 robbers. The game is divided into chapters; each one describes an episode from Ali-Baba's "career", from train robbery to treasure hunt and even discovery of the magic lamp . The game is a humorous "light" Japanese-style RPG - there is no world map, and most of the time the hero is taken to a new location automatically. Many locations have simple puzzles to solve, and some dungeon areas are maze-like. The gameplay system is nearly identical to that of Gensei Kitan, with the same interface and overall structure. Random enemies are fought in turn-based style, on a side-view battle screen. Characters use physical attacks, special techniques, and magical spells. As in all Gensei games, HP, SP, and MP are full

    Gensei Fukyo Den

    1994

    Role-playing (RPG)
    PC-9800 Series
Gensei Fūkyō Den is a Japanese RPG with a somewhat "light" approach, both in story-telling and gameplay. The gameplay mostly follows the standard procedure of Japanese-style RPGs, although some features are simplified: there is no "world map", and town navigation is menu-based. Most of the gameplay consists of navigating maze-like top-down dungeons, fighting random enemies in turn-based first-person perspective combat. Characters use special points (SP) for powerful attacks and magic points (MP) for spells. Released through Disc Station Vol. 4 in 1994 for PC-9801.

    1995

    Revival Xanadu 2: Remix

    1995

    Platform Role-playing (RPG)
    PC-9800 Series
Revival Xanadu 2: Remix is a remake of Xanadu: Scenario 2. The remake is done using graphics and engine identical to those of Revival Xanadu. Just as its original version was an add-on to Xanadu: Dragon Slayer II, this is an add-on to Revival Xanadu. The player begins in the same town, creates the protagonist, and then follows the same way to enter the dungeon area, which is the actual game world. It is there that the games become different, as the maps of Revival Xanadu II: Remix are different not only from those of the main game, but also contain layout changes and additions compared to the original version (Xanadu: Scenario 2). New regular enemies and bosses are introduced, and their design is enhanced according to the graphical standards of the previous remake.

    Revival Xanadu

    1995

    Platform Role-playing (RPG)
    PC-9800 Series
Revival Xanadu is a remake of Xanadu: Dragon Slayer II. The remake distinguishes itself with the more detailed, graphically more advanced character portraits and backgrounds in the various places of interest (inns, temples, shops, etc.). Player and enemy sprites are also drawn in a noticeably more detailed way and have a higher resolution. However, the side-scrolling exploration environments retain the original look, with "retro" graphics reminiscent of the older original game. For the most part, the location layout in this remake are the same as in the original version, and the gameplay remains largely unchanged as well.
