Another unofficial update for Sensible World of Soccer 96/97 (Amiga) created by Gideon and Dom Cresswell and various others. Released exclusively on the CU Amiga Cover CD in July 1998. It had the 32 updated World Cup teams and World Cup related graphics. During the 1998 World Cup in France, the Cresswells made this special update, which was based on their '97/'98 release and contained also some new graphics. This "World Cup 98 update" was officially supported by Sensible Software and released on the Cover CD number 24 of the magazine "CU Amiga". Being the only game based on the Japanese manga of the same title, it covers from "The Champion Carnival" to "The World Championship" in the original. There are 20 boxers and two hidden characters. There were only six voices for all the 22 boxers, voice actors in this game include Daisuke Sakaguchi, Tetsu Inada, Hiroshi Kamiya, Shinichi Yamada, Ito Asako, and Atsushi Kisaichi. Ring ni Kakero is a simulation of amateur boxing rather than professional boxing. Like in real boxing, there is a timer for each round. The game uses a manga outlook to the boxing scene as two fighters appear to fight using various cutscenes for action shots. Dynamite Soccer 98 is a soccer/football game focusing on national teams and national team players of 1998. Aside from penalty kicks practice and training mode which includes free kicks, corner kicks, and other basics, there are four gameplay modes available. Exhibition mode is a quick play which lets 1 or 2 players start a quick match with selected teams. Tournament uses a typical tree structure and supports up to 16 teams, each of which can be set as player or CPU controller team. When two CPU teams play, only the result is displayed. A-Max Cup uses four groups of four teams after which it turns into a tree structure and elimination play, and All Star mode lets you assemble a team of top players from all available national teams. Basic setup such as selecting stadiums, changing strategies, replacing players, setting time duration for a full match, and other options are all available. The major changes and improvements have been focused on graphic and statistical updates rather than on engine itself. The most significant differences from the original are: Whole look of the game is less vivid in order to increase the level of realism. Some home, away and goalkeepers kits have been updated (including the All Star teams). The appearance of goals and nets has been changed. Squads have been updated to exactly reflect 1998 FIFA World Cup squads, the number of players in line-ups has been extended to 22 as well. Three difficulty levels instead of five: easy, medium and hard. The choice of match length has been widen to 30 minutes in spaces of 5. Match settings in Exhibition Mode now include the choice of uniforms, extended period, penalty shoot-out and golden goal. During the Cup Mode the statistics of scores and assists have been added. Options include: three difficulty settings, pitch speed, arcade or simulation hitting, fielding assistance, # of innings, DH, errors, injuries, and game time(day, night, dusk, overcast, or random). Season mode features a variety of options and statistics, including all-star voting. Leaving a pitcher in too long, colliding with a wall or another player, or a bad slide can all lead to injuries.
