Gloriana. is a management game set in the year 1550 AD, when Elisabeth becomes Queen of England. The player is cast as the owner of a small trading company with the goal to gain wealth and influence, through the international trading of goods and accumulation of luxury items, until they achieve sufficient status to be granted the post of counselor to the Queen. As each player drives around the game area they leave a solid trail behind them. The object of the game is to cause other players to crash into one of these trails, one of the moving barriers, or the edge of the game area. The first player to win the required number of rounds wins the game, the default winning score is fifteen but this can be altered. An optional feature of this game is the use of missiles which can punch holes in the trails. You are a mole armed with a wide range of different weapons; from shovel all the way to the rocket launcher and nuclear grenade. It started a whole new genre of "side view underground dig & shoot deathmatch" or real-time Worms-style games. Several clones (for example Liero) have been made from it since.
