As you pilot your spacecraft around the planets and stars, engaging in space combat and conversation with other characters, you unravel the Conquer the Universe plot. The game is similar to Elite in that you are relatively free to travel to wherever you please.

Assume command of a five person treasure hunting team that searches possible underwater sites for sunken treasure and artifacts. Train the crew for different roles: divers that search the wreck while trying to stay out of the way of sharks, scientists that conduct research and examine historical artifacts and engineers that take care of the mechanical operation of your ship or submarine. Real-life shipwrecks are present in the game, including the Titanic. Of course, you have a rival for most of the game who is known as 'Evil Eddy' - the richest man in the world - and the goal of the game is to beat Eddy by becoming rich enough to purchase the ultimate submarine: the Sea Rogue.

Basic interaction with the game world is accomplished by using the mouse, talking to NPCs requires the player to type keywords highlighted in yellow. The game boasts a great degree of interactivity, with the player being able to manipulate most items in a way they would behave in real life (e.g. fill a bucket with water and then put a burning torch out with it).

The evil sorcerer Blackmagic took over a village named Jolimy. Only a lone apprentice magician named Serguei can eventually defeat him and liberate his homeland.
Serguei's Destiny is made with the AGI interpreter, which was the engine used for Sierra's adventure games in mid- to late 1980's (such as for example the first two Space Quest games). The game is primarily an adventure, but there are RPG elements as well: Serguei accumulates experience and learns new spells by completing quests.
