The four play modes are Test Mode (exhibition play), World Tournament Play (inspired by soccer's World Cup), International League (a round-robin league) and International Cup (a 16 team tournament). Of these modes, only Test Mode allows two players to play the game at the same time. Differing itself from typical soccer simulation titles, Super Shot Soccer provides over the top arcade-style plays. Called Super Shot Special Moves, each team has two or three special moves that tie into the team's nationality. These provide a unique twist to simulation soccer, as gameplay can be interrupted by national monuments, disaster attacks and more. The game places you in the position as a real-world fighter, utilizing various fighting styles, such as Freestyle, Wrestling, Kickboxing, Ju Jitsu, etc. Each fighter has a variety of real-life moves, in different categories. There are punches, kicks, grapples and takedowns. There are also ways of making your opponent submit, or "tapout", to gain a victory. You have the ability to perform combos, but these combos are realistic; you can perform a 1-2-3-4 punch combo, or a punch-punch-kick, or any variation of those. Set on the isolated Confined Isle, the protagonist awakes without memories after washing ashore from the ocean. The island is said to be cursed so that everyone who sets foot on it loses all their memories. The game has the player exploring a series of interconnected dungeons in order to uncover the mysteries of the isle. Dungeons are intricate, full of traps and difficult battles. There are no random encounters, and every enemy icon on the map is colored according to the expected difficulty of the battle, so players can choose to try to sneak past dangerous enemies.
