The Official Everton F.C. Intelligensia is a quiz game about football. Despite the title it's not specifically about Everton as the player can choose to represent any English top flight team of the 1989/90 season and it features question about both domestic and international football. All questions have three alternatives to choose from and has to be done before time runs out. Some are accompanied with a picture. The game is built around the FA Cup and like in real life first division clubs enters the competition in the third round. In each round the player has to answer a number of questions which depends on the opposition drawn and if it's a home or away game. Opposition from higher divisions lead to more questions being asked. Goals are scored by answering questions correctly and the number of answers required depend on the difficulty level chosen. In the same way goals are conceded by answering questions wrongly.Puzzle Kana?

Yomo is an oldskool-styled shoot 'em up by Aaron Fothergill for Mandarin Software. It was runner-up in The 1989 Games Writer Of The Year Award competition which is pretty cool. I've had this on my bucket list for a while because I always admired its 8-bit feel which reminded me of games I played as a youngster back in the early 80s. The world is viewed two-dimensionally with a landscape populated by many destructible buildings and whacky vehicles which use the most frustrating mechanics. Our character is a tiny stickman who's on a mission to recover a dodgy nuke dropped behind enemy lines. However, this won't be easy because the baddies are constantly attacking so why not fire off a few heat-seeking missiles before jumping inside something probably stolen from the 1960s? On foot isn't fun, but if you see other stickmen wobbling across your screen then hit fire and gun 'em down!!Minivader
